Two Time Cy Young Award Winner Tim Lincecum Brings Redemption To The Giants

Two Time Cy Young Award Winner Time Lincecum Stops Philadelphia's Sweep.

What’s up sports fans? Thank God it’s Tim! Tim Lincecum that is. The Giants pretty much had their backs against the wall. Philadelphia was waiting for this series for a number of reasons. Number 1. They’re still not happy about last season. 2. The Giants got some wins from them in the beginning of this season. 3. Let’s just face it, after those first two they got no love for San Francisco. It showed in a big way. Giants were losing in a series that was clearly running away from them. On Aug 6th during their match up, Ramon Ramirez hit Shane Victorino and Victorino couldn’t control himself. He ran at Ramirez and then the benches cleared.  The fight looked out of control you couldn’t tell who was hitting who.

You could tell at this point that the Phillies not only wanted to beat the Giants in the game, they wanted to beat them literally. I guess it was the psychological knowledge, that the Phillies were so close to winning the title only to watch the Giants take it away from them. So you can appreciate why they are a little steamed at San Francisco every time they play against them. Philadelphia should consider the realization of this game, and that is as much as they are competitive so are the Giants. This is the reason why they had to win this game. They were on a five game losing streak and the Phillies were assisting them in that statistic.   “That was one of the biggest games of the year, really,” Giants first baseman Aubrey Huff said. “Four-game sweeps are tough to deal with, especially in your home yard.”  This was a good day for Tim Lincecum.

He struck out five, and gave up seven hits with one walk, not bad for a guy who’s struggled a bit.  The two time Cy Young award winner had to forget about the past and go out there be David and slay Goliath.  “With the funk we’ve been in, you hope this is something to build on,” Lincecum said. “We don’t want to be content just winning one here and there.”  Newly acquired center fielder Carlos Beltran hand bothered him so much with pain that he had to leave in the seventh. Which took away some of the fire power the Giants needed, but they did have Brian Wilson and Brian did what Brian does. He’s like Kyra Sedgewick, he’s a closer. So that’s what he did and picked up his 34th out of 38 tries this season. Nice night for Jeff Keppinger, he finished with a respectable four hit night to help seal the win.

After the weekends escapades what was interesting is the interaction between Chase Utley and Lincecum after Utley’s bat hit Tim Lincecum in the knee instead of benches clearing Utley quickly ran to the mound to see if Tim was okay. He then responded,  “He said, ‘Sorry, man,”’ said Lincecum, San Francisco’s ace. “Bad hop. Bad luck.”  Which was nice to see because really and the end of each game of this season it’s just two teams striving to reach the same goal. It can be frustrating at times, but Chase Utleys response is what matters on the playing field. Maybe if both teams remember that along with the rest of the sports world, then we will probably go out play ball and have some fun at the ball park and have a good time for all. If you were Shane Victorino what would you have done? Do you think he was justified in fighting with the opposing team? Tell me what you think. Remember folks it’s ALLBAYAREASPORTS.COM.
