Sharks Treat And Beat Coyotes Like Pups. San Jose 4- Phoenix 1

What’s up sports fans? Do ya kinda get the sense that the Sharks own the Coyotes? I’m only asking that because they continue to beat them month after month. They beat them in January, February, and here we are in the end of March. San Jose apparently wasn’t going to let the Shark fans down, and they should be happy because they got a rare treat. San Jose continued it’s pursuit of the Stanley Cup playoffs, and the Cup itself by beating the Phoenix Coyotes 4-1. All this was going on and really it was a back drop to what was going on as far as the Coyotes business affairs played out. A lot of Phoenix fans are not happy that the organization is seeking to sell the franchise to Chicago business man Matthew Hulsizer. I guess I can appreciate that, I mean if the someone told me last year and they did that they’re was a possibility the Golden State Warriors, I’d be upset.

I’d also be upset about losing  San Francisco 49ers, Giants or San Jose Sharks were being sold I’d be pretty upset about that too because I root for those teams. And look just because I didn’t say anything about Oakland Raiders or A’s doesn’t mean I would’nt be upset about those teams also cause I would. I love all our bay area franchises, so I can appreciate where the Phoenix fans are coming from. But we Shark fans would still love to watch our Sharks beat Phoenix, and so they did. It started with Logan Couture he had two goals to really set the tone for his rookie season. His goals also made a good argument for the Calder Trophy which he and his Shark teammates believe he should win. what was also interesting is what I’ve been blogging about. Now I know my readers are going to probably get board with me saying this but this is yet another situation where the team with the most shots didn’t win the game.

Phoenix out shot the Sharks 32-27. Antii Niemi had 26 saves, which allowed the Sharks to capture an impressive win, “We noticed Phoenix goalie Ilya Bryzgalov was not seeing the puck all that well, so just fired on net,” Couture said. “(Bryzgalov) is one of the best in the league, but with the kind of night he was having, we wanted to put as many pucks on net as possible.” The win gave the Sharks a 4pt. lead over the Coyotes for the 1st place position in the Pacific West division. It also gave Antii Niemi his 31st win of the season. Ryan Clowe scored along with Joe Pavelski. It’s to write about a franchise that is winning like this. San Jose in it’s last ten games has gone 6-1 and 3. “We weren’t good enough in any area,” said Coyotes captain Shane Doan. “They kind of controlled play and we have to be better than what we showed, and we know that.”

Mikkel Boedker scored for the Coyotes on a deflection by fellow Coyote Derek Morris, once it deflected in front of Boedker he smashed it by Niemi for the go ahead score.  “I’m disappointed because we didn’t leave everything on the ice,” Phoenix coach Dave Tippett said. “I didn’t see enough desperation in this game.” San Jose improved to 46-23-9, and they are in the drivers seat going into the playoffs.  “Logan has been a catalyst, and at times, carried this team,” McLellan said. “He has given contributions from everywhere, from scoring, to winning faceoffs and penalty killing. For Logan to reach 30 goals is a great reward for a heck of a good season to this point.” He’s definitely correct about Couture, but you can’t overlook the contributions the Sharks produce every game as a team.

Dan Boyle, Logan Couture, Joe Pavelski, Ryan Clowe, Pattrick Marlowe, Antii Niemi and the rest of the team, these guys leave it on the ice. San Jose has given it’s  fans a great season and that’s what should be appreciated throughout the tenure of this franchise. We as Bay Area hockey fans can’t complain. Some teams never get this close, don’t put up these kind of winning percentage, but we in the Bay Area have been hockey blessed, or have we. Okay I’m going to go out there and say it, “SHARKS ARE GOING TO WIN THE STANLEY CUP!” Tell me what you think. Remember folks it’s ALLBAYAREASPORTS.COM. Bay Area Sports Magnified!
